First Geothermal System in South Africa goes live!
On Thursday April 30, 2009 the first heating and cooling system in southern africa that uses geothermal technology, went live. GES (pty) Ltd. and Elshove & Pryce have agreed on a joint venture
Geothermal Energy Systems (Pty) Ltd. and Elshove & Pryce today, 5 March 2009, agreed on a joint venture between the two companies.
GES(Pty) Ltd. is the only company in South Africa which has been accredited by the North American Geothermal Coalition- the recognised leaders in geothermal systems for the design and implementation of this leading edge technology using renewable energy from the earth.
GES has specialized in the use of environmentally friendly renewable energy technologies, providing viable solutions in particular for HVAC installations, but also in areas where wind and/or solar technology is appropriate.
Elshove & Pryce is a leading company of air-conditioning and mechanical building services engineers based in Gauteng, and with a wealth of experience in all areas building services, consulting and construction.
Both companies are driven by a deep concern for environmental issues and the conviction that these needs must be addressed by energy saving systems in line with the terms of the Kyoto agreement, to which South Africa is also a signatory.
It is with this in mind that the two companies working together in a joint venture, breaching the gap between consulting and contracting, will be able to provide:
environmental assessments of buildings
green audits
environmentally friendly, renewable energy turnkey systems
S.A. stamped approval of mechanical designs.
First Geothermal project phase completed in Port Alfred, Eastern Cape, South Africa.
A geothermal air-conditioning, heating and hot water project for Downstream Property Investments for their new hotel in Port Alfred has begun. The first phase of the project has now been completed with the first Installation Permit for the use of geothermal technology in HVAC in South Africa being granted by the Port Alfred Municipality on the strength of our geothermal accreditation.
GES has just completed the first Geothermal Training Course in Africa
We have just completed the first geothermal training to take place in South Africa. This course results in certification and accreditation at different levels by the North American Geothermal Coalition - the recognised leaders in training for the design and installation of geothermal systems - thus setting world wide standards for this industry.
All GES employees who attended the course passed the final exam and are now accredited by the North American Geothermal Coalition.
